Hip pain originates from the bones and tissues associated with the joint where the leg meets the pelvis. Hip pain may occur while walking and moving, or while sitting or lying. The head of the femur (the bone in the upper leg) sits in the acetabulum (a portion of the pelvis) like a ball in a socket. Pain may be caused by boney pathologies or arthritis inside the joint, or from the soft tissues inside or surrounding the joint.

Hip pain can alter your gait (or the way you walk) and cause other associated symptoms, like low back pain or leg pain. Occasionally, low back problems can cause hip problems like hip arthritis, without causing low back pain.

The Doctors of Chiropractic at Absolute Health Center in Colorado Springs can help you determine what is causing your pain, and the best steps to alleviate your symptoms.

Treatment may vary depending on diagnosis. Treatment may include a chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture or massage therapy, and possibly physical therapy. X-rays or other diagnostic tests may be necessary to determine the best care for your condition.
